Abstract
There has been a boom in the emergence of research analytical platforms and tools to support research and researcher impact assessment and evaluation. However, different analytical platforms can contain different cuts of the same or similar data and can yield different conclusions to the same question. Stakeholders in the research ecosystem need simple ways to link the inputs, products and outputs of research to the researchers and research institutions associated with them – and ways that do not add to researcher administrative burdens. Launched in 2013, ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID), is a not-for-profit, crosssectoral collaboration, committed to building a global registry of unique and persistent researcher identifiers.
ORCID effectively uses researcher IDs to connect and share research-related information across different systems via links and application programming interfaces.
ORCID has the potential to shed new light on the factors that influence researcher and research productivity and impact and enable analysis of research-related knowledge, information and people flows.

Ha habido un auge en la aparición de plataformas de análisis de la investigación y herramientas de apoyo para la evaluación del investigador y del impacto de la investigación. Sin embargo, diferentes plataformas analíticas pueden contener diferentes cortes de los mismos datos o similares y pueden producir conclusiones diferentes a la misma pregunta. Las partes interesadas en el ecosistema de la investigación necesitan formas sencillas para vincular los insumos, productos y resultados de la investigación a los investigadores e instituciones de investigación asociadas con ellos - y formas que no se suman a las cargas administrativas del investigador. Lanzada en 2013, ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID), es una organización sin fines de lucro, de colaboración intersectorial, comprometida con la construcción de un registro global de identificadores únicos y persistentes de investigación. ORCID utiliza efectivamente IDs para que el investigador se conecte y comparta información relacionada con la investigación a través de diferentes sistemas vía enlaces y aplicaciones de interfaces de programación. ORCID tiene el potencial de arrojar nueva luz sobre los factores que influyen en el investigador y productividad e impacto de la investigación y permitir el análisis de la investigación relacionada con el conocimiento y la información.
